ITEMS FROM KENTUCKY SOURCES SOURCESt t Louisville Ky February 2S Lyman II Davis secretary of the Xew Louisville Jockey Club has re ¬ turned here from Juarez where he acted as secre ¬ tary during the winter meeting Mr Davis will he busy from now on arranging for the spring meeting here which he declares will he one of the best ever held in Louisville He reports that most of the stables that raced at Juarez will come here to take parr The stakes have all filled well and judging from the number of applications he 1ms received from prominent owners for stable room he anticipates a banner springThe meeting the coining spring The Derby this season will be contested by some of the highestclass horses in training including the wellknown eastern horses Waldo Boca Grande and Fighting Bob II G BLdwell will have one of the largest stables at Churchill Downs this season and J It Wainwright will also have a large string of horses here Including such wellknown racers as Spooner AI Midler Dr Waldo Briggs and Glen Helen HelenJames James V Davis who raced his horses at Juarez during the early part of the meeting and left Mexico after lie had sold his AllanaDnle gelding Greystec1 is preparing to take up stable quarters at Churchill Downs and get together a string of youngsters to race at the coming spring meeting He is trying now to get straightened in the courts a suit ovei i twoyearold lilly by Yorkshire Lad out of the notiJ race mare Liiralighter in which he owns a half interest and now held by order of the courts by Milton Young Mr Davis was awarded a judgment of over 0000 covering an attachment on the imfru Lnralightcr and this filly but the proper papers have never been handed down in the case and Colonel Young has held tlie stock ever since Davis judgment being in a measure protected by a lioiid which a security company will ultimately bo compelled to forfeit in the case This will not entirelv cover the horsemans judgment but is in itself quite a tidy sum sumFrank Frank Clarkson has sent his mare eneta dam of the good threeyearold iBoca Grande to Lexing ¬ ton to be bred to Marta Santa SantaIt It is reported that Ed Corrigan is coming here shortly with Ben K Sleet and other young horses that will carrv his colors over the Kentucky tracks
