THOMAS WELSHS RACERS DOING WELL New York March 23 Thomas Welsh has probably the largest establishment of any of the Long Island trainers and his string at Gravesend is doing re ¬ markably well In addition to the older horses that he handled last season he has a great string of fashionablybred twoyearolds that he Is preparing for the races for different owners Yesterday at Gravesend he had Irlnce Imperial Wise Mason The Squire and Pretend out in one set while the two yearolds carried his operations until well on into the forenoon Prince Imperial a twoyearold that acquitted himself with credit last year will come back to the races well worth paying attention to and from the way he lias been going along it will he possible to have him under colors early though he has at no time been hurried while for a goodly part of the cold weather he was turned out in a paddock paddockWise Wise Mason Pretend and The Squire all take to their tasks cheerfully Glucose another of the Welsh horses is one that has never shown his real qualitv under colors but he has been liberally nomi natedfor the coming season and he has shown Welsh that he is likelv to be useful He is being trained slowly and may not be seen at the races until Bel j mont Park yesterday He has come from winter retirement big and lusty He is the only one that John Miller is handling for the Schwartzes this spring springKialto Kialto does not seem to have suffered any by reason of his winter campaign and Frank Weir permitted him to go threeeighths in 392 He is intended for Aciueduct racing J L McGinnis who is training Ids own horses while his regular trainer is at the Kentucky farm i3 sending Shannon along nicely now and the thrce vearold is rapidly rounding to racing condition
