The attendance was as large as upon any day of the meeting, assay new arrivals from Hear York were on hand and the racing itself could not have been improved upon. Weather conditions were ideal and very seat in the grandstand was filled. The boxes were also entirely sold out. Dr. Billow showed a return to his good form of last season by simply toying with his opposition in the hurdle race. Otilo. the third choice in the feature race. lowered Ragmans colors at last. Ragman tried to make a runaway race of it. but failed dismally. Fins and Needles, which acted lietter than hitherto at the barrier and ran kindly throughout, also beat the favorite. The race for green hunters proved interesting. They finished, however, in Indian tile. The Norfolk Hunt Club turned out en masse, and loud was the applause which greeted Mr. W. B. Carney, Jr.. on his return to the paddock. Patriot, a well-supported second choice, starting fir the first time at the meeting, took Fond Heart. the 7 to lo favorite, into camp in the opening race. 11.1 Grenade was eight lengths behind Fond Heart at the finish. Patriot was run up to ,000 and was bought by F. T. Miller, owner of Fond Heart. In the fourth race Joe Jones good youngster. Rash, was backed from evens to 7 to lO ami. after getting away next to last, ran around his company ■ad won going away by five lengths from Jack Ryaii and Barbj Ward. Abe Attell ran into the fence tsoon after the start and jockey Burtons ankle was broken. Billie liibbs. heavily backed, caidured rho fifth race front the favorite. Oppar. with the steeplechaser. Xebec, backed from lo to 1 dowu to S, in third place. Recent work-outs: Alice- Three-quarters in 1:18, handily. Baby Willie Three-eighths in 4l . Bled. Bavaria - Quartc mile in 23ft. A good tilly.
