Laaek precipitated an investigation that may result in trouble for John Markleiu. his owner and trainer, and Hufnagel. his rider. In the fifth race, at one mile. Saturday. W. A. Today he jumped into the lead as they passed the stand and made a merry romp of it over the mile and twenty yards route in 1:40*. defeating Topland. Royal Report. Hans. There was some improvement in track conditions today, but Mr. Markleiu did not use this as a defense when he was called into the stand to explain tin- form reversal to judges Thomas II. Clay.
