May 23. — The Claremont Handicap furnished a most exciting finish at Belmont Park lod.iv when H. G. Beilwells Bighteasy and B. T. Wilson. Jr. s Beaucoup fought it out for an eighth of a mile through the stretch to have Beaucoup the winner bv a head. Firestone, the favorite, was a beaienoff third after jockey Shilling had lieen unable to race him to the front iu the early stages. Fighting Bob, just in from Louisville, is dangerously sick at Oravesend. W. Siiowalters Isirses have arrived at Gravescnd from Kentucky. There were four in the shipment, three of them being two-year-olds. Weights are out for tlie Van Cortlnndt Handicap, witli King James iu the post of honor under 120.
