NINE NAMED FOR HAMILTON DERBY. Hamilton. Onr.. June 17.— The meeting of the Hamilton Jockey Club, which begins tomorrow, promises to be the most successful ever given at this track. Conditions augur well for its success. There are more horses here than ever liefore and class will show iqi lietter than in previous years. Secretary Loudon has had a strenuous time trying to flint ;:ccmnuiodatioiis for all who wished to take imrt in the inc. -ling. The result is that some of the tlnr oiighbreds are stabled as far away as two miles from the course. The dub has had a thorough house cleaning this spring and everything alioiit the plant has been brushed up and put in perfect order for the o|icuii g. The turf course is at Its liest. while the steeplechase field has also r.-eehed attention. A splendid program of eight races has been provided tor opening day. The Hamilton Derby, at a mile and a quarter, and worth 82,98% will be the feature. Nine are named to go to the post iu this race and two of them. Fulfill and Banivcs. will be coupled as the Schorr entry. Barnev Sehreibers representative. Sager. arrived from New York this morning and jockey Stanley Davis has been engaged to ride him. Trainer powers brought Jack Atkin back to Canada and the big sprinter will pr..liablv remain on this circuit for the rest of the summer. Douaii is an absentee, but Polls, winner of the American Derby at Jacksout ill.- last winter, is named to go. Polls is asked to carry 127 ihiiiiiiIs. rather a stiff ini| ost, but trainer Henry McDaniel pronounces the c.dt as g,,ud as at any time during the season. Detroit, Win. Pitt. Cllis Oruisby, Don Antonio and Chief Kee make up the remainder of the field. They are an evenly balanced lot. which insures a stilling contest. Light slMiwers fell this afternoon, but it helped rather than hurt the track. Weather indications :.ir tomorrow are f,,r bright skies, which means that the track will be in record breaking order. Mortimer MaBoaej reports that thirty the or forty-layers will he in line, and they should lie kept prettv busy. as special trains will be run from all the mar-In cities, including Toronto and BulTilo. All of the .•tibials are on hand for the ..| cniiig. among the late arrivals being Judge .1. A. Murphy, who will act as one of the stewards: A. B. Dade, who will do the starting, and J. .1. Burk.-. who will assist Judge Francis Nelson iu placing the horses at the finish.
