NEW RACING CLUBS IN CANADA. Hamilton. Out.. July 4.— The law linn of Bruce. Bruce and Counsel 1 has forwarded an application to the Dominion government for « charter for a new jockey club to be known as the Londoa Jockey Club, naming the following patties as tin- organizers of the new club: B. K. Bruce. W. .1. Soatbam, J. L. Counsell. St. Clair Balfour and II. W. Wilcox, all Hamilton men of wealth uud position. When questioned as to the intentions of the new OTgaaiaa-tion. Mr. Counsell. who is one of the largest shareholders in tin- Hamilton Jockey Club, ami who looked after that dubs interests in the recent investigation carried on by the parliamentary committee at Ottawa, said: "Daring the recent race meeting at Hamilton I met several people prominent in the turf world who were of the opinion that a new track was needed in Ontario in order to le-lp complete the season on the Canadian circuit so as lo make up for the loss of dates occasioned by the curtailing of each race meeting to seven days, and after going into the matter thoroughly with the gentlemen named, we have decided to pro d with the organization of a new club. and. providing our charter is granted, the erection of a modern racing plant with a mile track in or near tin- city of liunflon. which, with a population of 90.000 people and a splendid district, consisting of many small towns to draw from, should prove a good center for racing. We intend to proceed with the work of building the plant as nam as our application is dealt with, which will not be for a few weeks, and trust thai we will be ready for business in the spring and not later than the fall of 1011. We will seek recognition from lie Canadian Racing Associations, and endeavor to run two racing meetings each year that will be a credit to the turf in this country. "We will install the part-matue! system of lie Hind and will do away with all bookmaking. while at the same time It is our intention to offer much larger purses than the average on the Canadian circuit."
