FOLLIE LEVY REFUSES TO BREAK. Favorite Left at the Post in the Jamaica Stakes and Ben Loyal Is Victor. New York. July 0.— Prince Gal was the only winning favorite at foakera today from a card that was not remarkable for the da** of horses engaged. The feature of tbe day, the Jamaica Stakes, was marred by the leaving at the post of Follie Levy, favorite in a field of three that started. The race went to the three-year-old. Hen Loyal, which caught and beat Tim Pippin, the pacemaker, in tin- stretch. In the run home Hen Loyal crossed Tim Pippin at the furlong post, and jockey Davis was forced to take up. but at tin1 time Tim Pippin was beaten and Davis made no claim of foul, though it was expected thai in- would. The race was run in 1113*. Follie Lew. after refusing to break, could not be chased after the others for third money until the time had elapsed in which she should finish to earn the short end of the purse. Shortly afterwards McGee finally induced her to race over the course, and. timed Sepa-lately, she raced in 1:12. ludicarmf that no mistake was andc in installing her favorite. Star Charter repeated his recent Shcepshead Hay victorv by scoring over some smart two-year-olds, among which Mr. Colightly ruled favorite. Mr. Go-lightlv was ridden by Van Renschoten. who timidly pulled him up right at the break and to reach fourth place at the finish the colt had to close an immense gap on bis own courage. The other two-year-oid race went to Sununeit hue. a 10 to 1 chance. I.ada sette. the favorite, was off badly and was socnich pocketed for the entire trip. Tubal bent some cheap sprinters at the live and a half furlongs route, with T. C. McDowells Berwick. Hie favorite, a beaten off fourth after he had led into the stretch by a length and a half. At the end of the program Ardte won in a canter from Star Actor and Apologize, which was favorite in the three-horse field. August Belmont has secured second call on the services of jockey Archibald. ■ Since the suspension of Bddie Dagaa the Belaaont stable has been without a first class rider.
