ENGLISH COURT PROTECTS JOCKEY. In the Mbtia law courts counsel applied on behalf of Alfred Sharpies, the senior jockey attached to Mr. Dawsons stable at the turragh. for leave to i .sue and serve a concurrent writ out of the Jqrfsdir-tlon on Eason A- Sons. Limited, and Cuthl.crt Wilkinson, proprietors of The Racing World. The action is for damages for alleged libel, for an injunction restraining the defendants from printing or publishing in Ireland libels on the plaintiff. The libel complained of was the following advertisement: "A. Sharpies date with Mr. Dawson, trainer. Ireland. Sportsmen should post ."is. at once for Liverpool Cup winner. Weekly wires. 20s. daily 5a -Address, Sharpies. 34 Belfast Uofld. Old Swan. Liverpool." Plaintiff said he was the only jockey of the name that was ever connected with Dawsons stable, and if he had I n guilty of the practices of giving tips on forth coning races for pavment lie would be liable to Igftanl dismissal and would be warned off the turf.
