KENTUCKY SALE COMES TO CLOSE. Results Were Satisfactory, 323 Head Having Been Disposed of for a Total of 6,785. fcrlacton Ky.. September 24. — The Kentucky Sales Companys auction of thoroughbred weanlings, yearlings, bones in training anil hroodinares at Horsemens Headquarters waa concluded this morning with the consignments ,,f Irving H. Wheatcroft, owner of the St. James Stud, ami Henry M. Ziegler. the Cincinnati theatrical man who Is retiring from tin- turf and retaining only the stallion Hermis. which is to lie neat to France. Daring the five days of the sale :!2.l head were dtapoaed of for an aggregate of * .7K5. making the a vertigo a trifle less than 0999. This was surprisingly good, none of the expert! having anticipated an average of more than 00. This morning sixty-seven head were lold for $:. !.-033. the Wbeatcrofi consignment of forty-six kaad bringing S.4«70, and the Eiegler consignment of twepty-one bead fetching .kx5. The Wheatcroft consignment consisted of sixteen horses in training, which brought 12.380. ami Thirty rear linn for which the aggregate was 5,600. King Broomstick, a son of Broomstick and Embrace, the star «f the yearlings, was retained by Mr. Wheatcroft. He aaamaaeed a reserve of 5,000 mi him and there was no advance, though there were many expressions of admiration at bis beauty and evident quality. William Shields was I ne heaviest buyer of the horses in training. He paid khi for Green Seal. S.tioo for Marlborough. ,500 foe Woolwinder, *!*i0 for Alfred tin Great and 1500 for The Whip. There was something of a sacrifice in the disposal of the Zieghf consignment. Then was no apparent demand for broodmare* and they went for the proverbial s. ng. The feature of the sale last night was the dispersal of the racing sta-Me of China and Forsythe. ami the sale of the yearlings from their Fountainblue Farm. They sold fourteen horses iu training for ,000 and twenty-six yearlings for 8,930, making l total of 15,938. Raleigh Colston, trainer of the stable, bought several of the consignment, hut they were not for Mr. Forsythe. he having made the a uwouneement at tke opening of the sale that any bidding that, might be lone by Colston would not he for his account, as he was selling out absolutely. The top price was 1,900 for the yearling filly by Oddfellow— Naulahka. which went to Colston. The yearling brother to High Private was bought by Charles Bowman for 1,539. The t wo-year-old bay colt. Colston, half-brother to High Private, brought 1.575, which was the highest price for a horse in training, and Lou Johnson got alas. The aggregate of the evenings sale was sixty-two head for 19,230, an average of $:!lo.
