GREAT FUTURE FOR MEXICAN RACING Promoters of Track at Monterey Say All Mexico Is Getting Interested Cincinnati O October 31 Patricio V Alilrno and Iciilas T Poston the two prominent Mexicans who have recently been visiting Latonia announce that soon another race track will be built in Mexico and that efforts will IN made to have it completed and ready for racing early next fall These gentle ¬ men have a concession from the Mexican government to build and operate a race track in the cityof Monterey Neuro County Mexico They hold the exclusive right and the concession rims for ten years In addition to horse racing the concession grants the right for automobile and bicycle racing and to conduct bolting boltingAccording According to Messrs Post on and Mllmo the now Monterey track will especially feature horse racing and will offer two meetings annually but neither meeting will be of more than throe weeks duration and the dates selected will not clash with Juarez or any other Mexicn race meeting While in Louisville they had a long talk with Col M J Winn the manager of the Juarez track and he graciously furnished them a lot of advice which they regarded as wholesome More recently John Hachmeister manager of Latonia entertained them and furnished them much data from his vast store of knowledge gathered in years of race track expe ¬ rience rienceFor For the construction of the new track it soeuis the company has a tract of land with an area of 14 488 square yards entirely level and situated ou the east side of the city and has besides an option to acquire an adjoining tract of land with an area of 37373 square yards The distance to the raw track from the heart of the city is two miles with street car connections connectionsMonterey Monterey has a population of some 80000 The temperature Is mild and extremely pleasant Messrs Postou and Milmo say that all Mexico is talking of the coming big winter meeting at Juarez and pre ¬ dict that the support Which the better class of natives will give the meeting will more than satisfy Colonel Winn and his associates In their opinion Mexico is destined to ultimately become one of tho greatest racing countries on the globe Men of money and citizens of prominence are behind the sport in Mexico and racing will year bj year in ¬ crease in interest and importance
