RACING GOSSIP PROMISE EAST rA UMaf rtt w tw V TJ jTVa T ny 0tf jl vS vSr2 r2 New York November 28 James Kowe did not sail for England Saturday but will go on Vednes day He expects to return to this country by Christmas Jockey Xotter will accompany him abroad Although it has been reported ou more than one occasion that Mr Kbwe would go abroad to train either for the Kcene stable or for himself he expects to race in this country next season it is said and the present jaunt is not to make any Immediate arrangements looking to English racing either for Mr Keene of an English owner Xotter will return to America with trainer Rowe and it is probable they will be associated again next season as rider and trainer respectively respectivelySuperintendent Superintendent James Dunphy has the Gravesend track in tiptop condition and the stayathomes have every opportunity to gallop their horses The stables are filling fillingFair Fair Miss and Killarney Rose of the J L Mc Ginuis string have arrived and Jack Dowdell has taken up quarters in the old Phil Dwyer stable His best one is The Gardener a thoroughly useful plater platerTom Tom Welsh has cut down his stable to five horses for the winter He has sent quite a few away for the winter and intends to take i trip after a couple of weeks rest at his Graveseud home homeGeorge George Cornnell who trains the Quincy stable has returned to his old quarters at the Gravosend track with Everett winner of the Bowie Handicap He also brought along his promising twoyearold llambler llamblerJohn John AVhalen trainer for August IJeimont arrived at Belmont Park from Norfolk Va several days ago with the following horses Practical Field Mouse Whist Babbler and Asticot Mr Belmont has not decided whether he will winter his entire string at Belmont Park this year or whether he will divide them sending some to his southern quarters at Garnet S C CRichard Richard F Carmans string of thirteen horses that he raced at Latonia also arrived at the AAestchester Racing Associations track and will winter there thereJohn John Powers will take a stable of horses of his own to Jacksonville Fla this winter He recently visited John Hyncs farm at Stamford Conu where his string has been quartered since the Saratoga meeting and found them in excellent condition Among others in his string Is Maltbie winner of the Empire City Handicap Top Note Anne Casse and Gerdes are three others in the stable that Mr Powers will ship south tomorrow He intends to take up a string of twoyearolds bred by Barney Schreiber at his Woodlands Farm in Missouri The yearlings which be will handle have been picked from a big batch and there are some superb animals in the lot
