NOTES OF THE TURF. Steeplechase jockey Fred Williams has signed a contract to ride the coming season for Barlett McLennan. William Hogan. Mr. McLennans trainer, is wintering at Belmont Park, where he has Agent, Lillie Hoj", Brushbroom and three other jumpers. Stanley Davis, who will ride for Theodore Meyers in France this season, sailed from New York last Saturday. He expects to report for duty as, soon as possible after arriving in France and he may do some riding in the south of France before tbc regular season opens in the vicinity of Paris. The Sheepshead Bay Club, for years a famous rendezvous for horsemen gathered for the meetings of the Coney Island Jockey Club, is about to be closed. Richard Doggett, who holds a mortgage on the place, has at the request of the influential spirits of the club decided to foreclose, and the buildings and furniture will be sold at auction.
