QUARTERMASTER AGAIN A WINNER. Change in Jockeys Produces Expected Results and Yanke Racer Equals a Juarez Record. El Paso, Tex., Marcli IS. A fine card, comprising a handicap at seven-eighths and two allowance races, each of which attracted star performers, presaging a fine afternoons racing, drew more than the ordinary half-holiday attendance to the Juarez track today. Formful racing whs the order of the day, the success of four heavily backed first choices sending the public home in a happy frame of mind. Quartermaster, with considerable weight off, as compared with his preceding unsuccessful attempt, and with a much better rider up, was hacked into favoritism in the feature race. Owner Yanke was among those who backed the horse heavily. Jockey Gamer, riding a far different race from Higgins, the Yanke apprentice, kept him in a good position in the early running and, although hard ridden in the last sixteenth, the horse outstayed his opjwsltion in a game finish and equaled the track record of l:24j? for the seven-eighths. Jim Rasey. the California crack, after leading under sufferance, finished in the ruck. The third race, at three-quarters of a mile, witnessed the downfall of another supposed good thing from the coast. Pawhuska, which on the occasion of Ids first attempt here, ran a creditable race, was outpaced at all stages. Ho received somewhat the worst of a bad start, which in a measure accounts for bis ioor showing. Darney Schreiber is actively engaged in disposing of many of his cheaper horses, the most recent sale being that of Florence A. to Al Austin for 00 today. Jockey Ganz. for trying to boat the barrier in the fifth race, was suspended for ten days by Starter Cassidy. Arthur Dennett, a well-known racing enthusiast, was a visitor today and renewed many acquaintances in tiie ring.
