GOOD HORSES FOR LAGOON RACING. Best of Ear Western Stables Heading for New Track — New Plan for Weighing Out Jockeys. Salt Lake City. rtah. May 10.— One of the inno-vatktna planned for racing at the nen Lagoon course will be tie- manner in which the jockeys are to !m-weighed Out. Instead of having he scales beneath the judges stand, as is the custom, they will lie placid upon a platform about two teet high on the west side, of the fence enclosing the pagoda, done in and in full view of all those who care to see the riibis and check the weights for themselves. The Ihas will approach the platform from the east, mount the s, ahs from one side and. after passing the clerk Of the course, descend the opposite way anil in line with their ipiarters adjoining the paddock. This tea-tare is expected to en tertaiii and instruct the public and satisfy the few who may be prone to gossip con coining weights. The comfort of the ioekeya has not been overlooked by General Manager n. i. Wilson. Upon the roof of their building he bn- constructed a stand, roofed and enclosed, except in front, where the riders not engaged in the race then in progress can watch the horses run and in which before and between events the] may enjoy the fresh air and the bustle about the track. Their dressing rooms will he provided with lockers and all necessary sanitary appliances. Applications for stable accommodations Indicate more than two weeks ahead of the opening that the stalls will be crowded. H. ;. BedweU wrote from his Danville training quarters in California that ii" will ship here June 1. by which tiim he expects to have the majority id ids horses ready for racing. Naturally they are Ilesii and goad after ten months of Idleness. Mr. BedweU requested stabling for twenty one horses. The list shines with racers of high class and speaks for itself, as follows: Pajaroita, Berkeley. Prince Ahmed. Bigbteasv. Myhs oConncl!. Knight Heck. Richard Reed, Belle Clem. Lochiel. Madman. Nadsu. Pennyroyal, Frank Itubstaller. Judge Quinn. Bellwether, Sticker. Bryee, Margaret Randolph. Gilbert Bone, BUaabeta Bar-wood and Jeanette M. . A. Townseiul. agent at Baltimore for the Lagoon Association, has wired that Eugene Movne. with eight horses, including Chester Kriim. and James Hewitt, with four head, will leave than in one ear next Thursday. Powell and. Parker, with ten horses, now at Denver, have reserved stalls for Execute, Spotlll, Balella, Fred Mfarhollnnd and other members of the string. Advices from Oakland are that J. M. Crane and I. E. Smith will ship a carload at once. Mr. Cram- has a formidable list. Including John II. Sheehan. Maxing. Billy Myer and Lescar. Many if the owners now engaged at Ogden have applied for space at Lagoon. Some of the best there have not yet appeared under rotors on the Junction City track, notably Frank Mullens.
