PERFORMANCES OF AMERICAN BRED HORSES IN ENGLAND THIS YEAR + + Dp to and including Hie racing of May 12 Aineiioan-brcd horses had won twenty-one races in Fngland. betides being placed in thirty three more. None ol these aaccenpea waa achieved in races of first rate Importance, but included such respectably valuable events a- the Bro.kel-by Stakes at Lincoln, Iitzw illiam Stakes al New market. Three Year-Old Handicap at Newmarket, Hyde Park Plato at Epsom, Newmarket Plate at Newmarket. Stewards Plate at Chester, Alexandra Handicap at Catwiek. Marlborough Stakes al Catwiek and Somerville Stakes at Newmarket, any of which tin- average Knglish owner would be aaore than phased to win. Moreover, in Mr. Peeper, Kempion, Melody, the Adam Wild Thyme filly and possibly I r.inus these races introduced to English racing two-year olds of more than average merit, Kempion and Melody being probably at least as good as any of their age yet seen in public there this year.
