GOSSIP FROM KENTUCKY SOURCES, W. H. Fizer Transfers His Stable from Latonia to Louisville Captain Carmody Trains Promisingly. Louisville, Ky., August 10. The racing string of W. II. Vizer has arrived at Churchill Downs from Latonia and will remain at the local course until tiie end of the fall meeting of the New Louisville Jockey Club. Trainer Fizer remained at Latonia 011 account of the sickness of several horses in his stable, hut they are now over their ailment. Among the horses he brought to the Downs are: Mud Sill, Floral Day. Do Cesarion, Sauce, Nannie McUee, Plutocrat. Eye White, Boca Grande, Ben Catlett. Pink and Black, Roseworth, Discontent and Judge, Sale. A turfman at Churchill Downs who has just returned from Latonia. brings news of the horses ia training at the Kenton County course, which are booked for early arrival here to receive their final preparation for the coming fall meeting of the New Louisville Jockey Club. Captain Carmody, which, in the early spring was regarded as a prominent Kentucky Derby candidate, is now in the care of former jockey Dave Vititoe. who has a string ot! Barney Schroibors horses in charge. In addition, to the son of Golden Maxim, Vititoe has six maiden two-year-olds which were bred at Woodlands Farm. Captain Carmody is training well now, and Mr. Schreiber will enter him for the big events of the-coming fall. Next winter Vititoe will take him to Mexico. J. T. Weavers horses, in charge of W. J. Speirs, are at Latonia and doing well. Foxy Mary is described as looking especially well and Lady Lightning, winner of the Cincinnati Trophy Stakes, is a picture of health. The Weaver string will not lie shipped to the Downs until next month, as Latonia. is the home of the owner and trainer of tills stable. Jockey E. Martin is witli the Weaver stable and i9 keeping in condition by exercising the various members of the string. Former jockey John Gardner is still confined in the St. Elizabeth Hospital at Covington with a broken arm. 11. I. Rreivogel. a well-known racinir official, is a patient in the same hospital in which Mr. Gardner is being treated. He is gradually mending and, though weak and nervous, hopes to be out and on hid way home to Detroit within the next two weeks. " An arrival at the Downs from Latonia is the Illinois trainer, John Huffman, who got in with two horses. Mr. Huffman is famous as the trainer of Yo Tanibien, Van Buren, Maid -Marian, Ceverton and other stars of the great Chris Smith stable. J. B. Respess spent Sunday at Douglas Park, looking over the string of horses he has in training at that track. He went to Woodlawn Farm in Ohio Monday to see about taking up his big band of yearlings, and from there he will return to Canada, where some ot his horses art; racing. Though the owner of Dick Welles has many horses, lie is still in the market for anything with quality enough to win a good race. His latest purchase is McCreary, which lie bought from T. P. Hayes. Mr. Respesa has done well with Volthorpe, his Louisville purchase from I. Mesehendorf. as since he has owned the half-brother to The Picket the colt has won twice and in his only other start finished second.
