ROOSEVELT AND WOOD WILL HELP. Organization of National Remount Association Proposed at the Sportsmens Dinner. New- York. February 2i». — August Belmont, chairman of the Jockey Club, speaking at the sportsmeu"s Dinner last night, pointed to the serious menace which threatened the cavalry and artillery branches of the United State- Army in the depletion of thoroughbred horses by reason of the U "nation of la. im;. Mr. Belmont suggested the formation of a national CavalTJ and Artillery Remount Association and to be created from all ranks of sports and agricultural hi., with the center of th.- organisation ,ii Wash Ington, to keep a register of mare- inspected and found suitable for breeding remounts and artillery horses. Gen. Leonard Wood, chief of staff of the United Slates Army, who was present, approved of the plan. Mr. Belmont said, ami was willing to become president of the association, and Col. Theodore Roosevelt was al-o willing to help the cause by becoming vice president. General Wood and Mai Henry T. Allen. V. S.
