1 __ 4. RETURNS TO OWNERS FROM FOUR YEARS RACING OF HORSES SIX YEARS OLD AND UNDER + 4. Horses six years old and under that have won 0,000 or more in the course of the Inst four years of racing in the United States. Canada and Mexico, and that were included in the money-winning list of the year that has recently closed, number ninety-seven. The first three in the list are Hlblreth stars and it is due to their combined earnings oi S2If».::or that Mr. Hiblreth was the leading American owner for the last three years in succession. The fortunes of horses, like the fortunes of men. are cast in widely divergent lines. In some are sre.it rewards without great effort, while others gain scanty returns from strenuous toll. Thus. Novelty starts in twenty one races, wins fifteen and returns ,4.47.r to his proud and pampering owner. The reverse view is thai Enfield wins forty-three races out of 190 and yet is only able to reap the comparatively small harvest of 114,480.
