I 1 WHITNEY HORSES IN TRAINING. Wl.ib- viewing the many strings of horses in a live • preparation for racing, the Newmarket correspondent t of London Sportsman came across the big Whitney r band Bl work March II. and had this to say of the * Aieeii. an BO| I - : •Jovni r wa- another early arrival on Side Hill I and the New Crouud. and a- I stood eloee to where hi- hoi-.- started off and palled up as well in the • Beany circular mile gallop on tin- New liiound. I 1 wa- .if.ii- to have a go. d look at tile String at dose ■ naarters. 1 was phased to notice the great improve ment at least in look- in -in h hoi-. - a- Whisk . Broom, Burrow. Iron Mask aud Lady Hamburg. . which had a ;oo | mile gallop following a similar i- spin by All Cold. Sanilrian. Flinders and Martha i II. colt. All strode alons; at goad halt Meed 0C r better, and when they pulled up I was particularly r struck with the great iniprn.-ue nt shown by Iron 1 Mask, which has till..! OUl into a very handsome compart bone, well amitcled up everywhere and I Wlthoel Bay of the excitability he exhibited last t rear. He i.x.ks now quite a staid hois.-. Whi-k * ill.... m. too, to tin eye seems in quite hard and forward condition at lues.-nt. Nor can anv fault he ■ found with the others. Ineludtng BOTIOW, All Cold I and Bandaian, and I shall be greatly burprisvd if f those horses do not win plenty of good races for the American stable in the coining season, .lovner said to me yesterday that he was depending more on his two year olds for his successes this year and* they certainly are such a grand-looking lot more especially the coltsi that one can well understand their trainer being optimistic as to their future. He had only a batch of two-year old fillies out with his first string yesterday, hut there were some capital movers ainougst thorn. Due that struck me particularly was a brown filly of tiic St. Simon type and Joyner told me she was by Peter Pan out of Royal Rose therefore half-sister to Iron Mask. If she cannot raee she will certainly belie her looks and style of galloping.
