horses from the two local courses Most of the horses which go from here are twoyearolds AH will return to the Downs sit the close of the Lexington meeting and there will not be less than COO horses at the two tracks here when the local meeting opens This will o an overabundance for a fifteendays raci meeting as the program in contemplation will pro vld two races for twoyearolds each day leaving onlv four races for the threeyearolds and older Jiorses While this may seem a bit scanty as com nared with some other seasons when a thousand horses wore quartered at the two tracks it must IKS remembered that in those days there was always a lot of dead timber in the sUibles and in reality there won actually no more horses ready to race than villlx here for the coming meeting Now train ¬ ers retain In their strings only those horses which lliev are sure to l e able to race and the dead tim j crof these stables is sent to the farms to be rested
