BIG FIELD IN CUP EACE The Liverpool Spring Cup was contested this year by the largest Held that has done duty for the nuts for over thirty years twenty starting notwithstand ¬ ing the dislocation of the railway traffic The Bnr bago stable had hopes of repeating history by fol ¬ lowing up the success of a twelvemonth ago with Zorzal which however had not scored since then while at Peurith there were also expectations that Star of Dpon would repeat his victory of 1909 Will aura purchased by Lord Derby for 15000 in De ¬ cember was installed favorite though many others wore well supported including Helot but while at the post Mr Sievers horse was severely kicked anl his number was withdrawn though he had been un ¬ der the starters orders Merry Task drawn nest the rails soon showed in front and maintained the lead for a mile when Subterranean took It up and scored by a length and a half The winner is owned by Sir J Ellis Potter a Liverpool man and the same stable sent out Goldwiu which appropriated the Stand Welter Plate carrying 109 pounds nnd beating Arboretum by a head Both first and sec ¬ ond put up some 12 pounds dead weight the re spective jockeys being Wootton and Calder
