AMERICAN COLT WINS THE JULY STAKES At Newmarket England last Tuesday being the first day of the Newmarket First July meeting the July Stakus of 250 each for twoyearolds at five eighths of a mile was won by H B Beddingtotia chestnut colt Hock Flint by Rock Sand Trigger with A F Bassets bay or brown colt Uoseworthy by William the Third Electric Rose second and H 1 Whitneys chestnut colt MIramichl by Voter Running Stream third Ten ran and Uoseworthy was the favorite at even money Hock Flint was one of the band of yearlings disposed of by A Bel mont at the Newmarket Jnlv sales last year anil was then bought by Mr Beddington for 3300 As the July Stakes usually nets the winner between 7000 and 8000 it is obvious he secured a bargain On the same day the Bottisham Plate of 1000 for threeyearolds and over was won by King Georgcrt threeyearold bay colt I Lac by Florizel II Loch Doon Muudford finished second and Cherry King third thirdWednesday Wednesday afternoon the Duke of Cambridge Handicap of S5000 for threeyearolds and Over was won by King Georges fouryearold bay colt Dorando by Cyllene Nadejda P Nolkes three yearold bay colt Oulram by Delhi Gingham was second and Mr Falries fouryearold chestnut colt Cylllus by Cyllene Galeottia third Eleven horses started On the same day II P Whltnev8 throe yearold bay colt by Hamburg Martha II won a maiden selling plate of 515 at throequarters of a mile from fifteen opponents Struy finlsuin second and Mcale third
