ASK REPEAL OF CALIFORNIA LAW Sacramento Cal July S A petition lias been filed with Secretary of State Jordan asking that the initiative be Invoked to repeal the state law pro ¬ hibiting betting on horse races In this state There arc seventeen names on the petition which conies from Placer county It requires 31000 names to have the matter submitted to the voters The pe ¬ titioners ask that the present law be revoked and that a law In passed providing for horse racing and betting under a state commission appointed by the governor This has to connection with the movement recently inaugurated by the California Breeders Association to the same end
