DOMESTIC NOTE FROM ABROAD The stallion Alveswt thy Haeburu out of Al ¬ berta has achieved some celebrity in America by aid of his threeyearold son Free Lance which won the Latonia Cincinnati Derby on June S for the millionaire owner George J Long of Louis ¬ ville Ky There were six starters for the Derby which was worth about SOO sovereigns to the win ¬ ning owner and was run over the usual mile and a half and on a fast track Free Lance accomplished bis task in the fast time of 2l1 Ridden by C Peak lie won in a canter by six lengths from The Manager with Worth which was conceding the two leaders thirteen pounds apiece third Alvescot was formerly owned by James Joicey and won several good races inclusive of the Hastings Plate when a threeyearold and in the next year ran second to Little Eva for the Lincolnshire third to Australian Star and Amurath for the City and Suburban and third to Santoi and Caiman for the Jubilee II w was subsequently sold by auction to T A Drake and was sent to the 1nited States of America London Sporting Life
