KING GEORGES INTEREST IN RACING London Eng July 24 His Royal Highness Prince Arthur of Connaught lias been elected a mem ¬ ber of the Jockey Club His fattier the Governor General of Canada has been i member of the Jockey Club the most exclusive organization in Europe for many years yearsKing King George In spite of the stories circulated as to his lack of interest in the turf is showing n pro ¬ nounced liking for the sport of the turf Both he and Queen Mary are frequent attendants at the im ¬ portant meetings and appear to find much enjoy ¬ ment at these outings During the Newmarket July meeting his Majesty occupied rooms at the Jockey Club and was out on horseback early In the morn ¬ ing to see the final work of such of his horsos us were to run at the meeting Lord Marcus Beres ford who has charge of the details of the Royal stud accompanied him himWhen When Dorando won the Duke of Cambridge Han ¬ dicap the King watched the race from the Jockey Club stand and the cheering was so prolonged lhat his Majesty stood at the front of the stand and with hat in hand smilingly faced Ihe crowd He subsequently went into the paddock lo meet his horse and congratulated both trainer and Jockey
