GOT EXERCISE ON RAILROAD JOURNEY New York July 24 While talking aliout horse winning races right after being taken off Ihe Irain Herbert Temple an express company representative who has handled horse shipments to and from the New York tracks for years recently remarked that Green B Morris achievement with Stralhmeath n the summer of ISJl was a remarkable one Strathnieath oneStrathnieath a threeyearold sou of Slrathuioro and Flower of Meath was eligible to start in tho American Derby run June 20 at Washington Park Chicago The horse was stabled at the Sheepshead Bay course and with only a few days intervening before the day set for the running of the big event of the west Mr Morris communicated with Mr Temple Within a few hours Strathnieath was loaded aboard the longest car used at that period for the transportation of horses Mr Temple pointed out that on several stretches of the route It would be safe to give Stratlimeath walking exercise aa there were no curves and the roadbed was erfect Stralhmealhs car training went on smoothly dur ¬ ing the long journey by rail and the Morris candi ¬ date won the Derby with ease after which he WHS returned to the east where other important stako victories went to his credit
