PARIMUTUELS FOR THE TROTTERS Concerning the reinstallation of the pariinutuel system of betting for the trotting races now going on at Cleveland a press correspondent writes writesFor For the lirst time in the history of recent Grand Circuit racing parimntuel machines will l e used at the North Handall meeting a move which means the beginning of abolishing book betting gradually on tho big line In the trial stages the association will put on two machines only this week to edu ¬ cate the regulars and tho chance are next year the book betting stands will be a thing of the past and speculation will be strictly confined to the ma ¬ chine and auction pools in which the speculators make their own odds oddsThere There is an interesting story attached to the ap ¬ pearance of the machines here It has been authori ¬ tatively reported that Cleveland authorities and reformers who are opposed to book betting have agreed that if the management of the North Ran ¬ dall track can eventually prove that the racegoing public will not be Imposed upon by some of the bookmakers and will indulge in the pastime by ma ¬ king its own odds during the next two years there will never bo any opposition to the speculation feature of harness races and this is what President Harry Devereux and his associates are going to prove This week there will be poolselling two ma ¬ chines and four books Next year there will ba poolselling more machines and no books while on and after 1014 the association must get along with ¬ out the books
