AN ANTINEWSPAPER ORDINANCE An ordinance passed at the last meeting of the City Council of Chicago became operative yester ¬ day It reads readsAn An ordinance prohibiting the sale or distribution of publications giving information in regard to I Kitting KittingBo Bo it ordained by the City Council of the City of Chicago ChicagoSection Section 1 No person shall sell offer for sale give away display exhibit distribute or cause to lw distributed any newspaper or publication cir ¬ cular blank handbill pamphlet or other written or printed matter giving or purporting to give informa ¬ tion concerning the rate at which bels are being offered or taken in the city or elsewhere or the odds being given or taken on bets within the city or else ¬ where or advice as to betting or the ratio at which bets should l e made upon the result of any trial or test of skill speed or power of endurance of man or beast or upon tho result of any political nom ¬ ination appointment or election electionSec Sec 2 Any iicrsun violating any of the pro ¬ visions of Section 1 hereof shall IKJ fined not less than 10 nor more than 200 for each offence offenceSet Set S This ordinance shall take effect and be In force from and after its passage and due publi ¬ cation cationThis This newspaper does not l elievo that the ordinance is valid or legal and Intends to test its constitution ¬ ality in the courts at the earliest opportunity Until this test is made Dally Racing Form will not print in its local edition any information ml verlisemenls or other matter which seems to K pro ¬ hibited by tlie ordinance It will however print the racing news of each day with its opinion about such news until the courts pass on the validity of the ordinance
