ADDING TO LAUREL ACCOMMODATIONS Preparations for Coming Meeting Include Construc ¬ tion of Two Hundred Additional Stalls Baltimore Md September 7 A 1 Dado and James Milton have been appointed starters for the October race meeting of the Maryland State Fair Association at Laurel Mr Miltons work luting the present meeting at Havre de Grace has been highly satisfactory He will spring the barrier during the last two weeks of racing at Laurel as it is Mr Dades intention to take a couple of weeks rest before tho beginning of the meeting at Pimlico where he will again serve serveThere There will be little if any change in the list oC officials that served last fall and the meeting will be in the hands of men who have served iif their respec ¬ tive capacities jit variourf big tracks tracksCarpenters Carpenters are now rushing work on extra stabling for the accommodation of 750 horses Although Manager II 1 Brown had stalls for 00 head built last year for the inaugural meeting of the Maryland State Fair Association the accommodations fell far short of the number applied for and as a result any number of horsemen where either turned down or had to reduce their strings in order to have them quartered within the enclosure In order to give all a chance Manager Brown is now having 250 extra stalls erected erectedActivity Activity at the course denotes the approach of the opening day Tho association has several hun ¬ dred hands at work and everything will IK spick and span and with this years improvements Laurel will have a model racing plant Painters are now at work giving the grandstand and surrounding buildings a fresh coat of paint paintBoth Both tho steeplechase course and tho track itselC are being made safe and fast The jumping will Iw a big feature this fall The course has been greatly improved and leveled and the owners of the best crosscountry horses in America and Canada will send their charges over it for highly attractive purses will be offered for the timbertoppers during the four weeks of the meeting The principal struggle through the field will bo the Chevy CUase Steeplechase of 2500 added A silver trophy will go to tho winner It is for gentlemen riders at the distance of two and a half miles
