PROVINCIAL NURSERY TO IRISH HEART Sir H Montagu Allans Colors Carried to Victory for First Time at Montreal Montreal Que September 13 The Provincial Nursery a race that divides interest with the Kings Plate in tiiis part of Canada was the attrac ¬ tion at Blue Bonnets this afternoon It was the third running of this event and todays race brought out the best field that ever went to the post to con ¬ test for this stake The attendance was the largest f the meeting and much enthusiasm was manifested There were eight starters six of them being by Canadian National Brooding Bureau stallions or mt of marcs brought Jo this country by the bureau Hie race resulted in a contest between Irish Heart and Planovor in which the former proved best by winning after a mild stretch drive by half a length Irish Rose which ran in the toiors of Sir II Mon ¬ tagu Allan is by Thomas Cyldes imported horse Dublin and out of Sans Coetir a mare that J K Seagram of Toronto owned Irish Heart made most of her own pace and showed good courage under punishment It was the first race that Sir Montagu Allan who is president of the Montreal Jockey Club has over won at Blue Itonnets and the outcome was popular Irish Rose a lilly by Dublin owned by A E Ogilvie was by far the host look ¬ ing one of the lot She was not taken up and broken until the middle of June and under the cir ¬ cumstances ran a remarkable race On their show ¬ ing tliis afternoon it looks as if next years Kings Plate may Ise a struggle between Irish Heart and Irish Itose Ilanover which finished second is undersized and when they are asked lo go a mile and a quarter the chances are that she will not be there The same field that went to the post this afternoon will proballv meet again in the Plate next fall fallTrack Track conditions showed a great improvement over yesterday but the publie found the task of picking the winners just as difficult as when the go ¬ ing was heavy Lewin which cantered home an easy winner in the first race was tile only favorite to score during the afternoon Liberal odds were quoted about all the other winners and those lucky enough to land on the right ones profited hand ¬ somely somelyThe The steeplechases run at Blue Itonncts this fall have furnished keen sport and todays race through the Held proved no exception to the rule Four of the six starters came over the last fence in a hunch and it was not until the final titty rani that J 4 ost was able to shake off his opposition The race was contested by maiden jumpeVs and the winner and Cherish both show that they are promising mate ¬ rial rialAfter After the races trainer Coylc schooled Miss Chamblets recent purchase Brosseau and he fanced brilliantly This colt looks like the most promising green fencer shown this year and should develop into a useful horse over the jumps jumpsTwentynine Twentynine books were in line this afternoon a record meetingIt number for the meeting It E Watkins has decided to ship his stable from here to Havre de Grace All the other horsemen racing here will ship to Toronto to take part in the Woodbine meeting meetingA A G Weston has arranged to go from here to Pimlico on Monday to take up the yearlings that Thomas Clyde has in Maryland The youngsters will be broken and tried out before going into win ¬ ter quarters quartersAlan Alan Bulcroft the Canadian trainer has decided to take in the Maryland meetings and also that at Norfolk this fall He will ship the horses he is handling for N Macfarlane and also his jumpers from Toronto to Laurel LaurelWilliam William Snyder one of A B Dades assistants leaves for St Louis tomorrow night to do the start ¬ ing during the si days meeting to he given at the new Universal Ex osition track P M Civill will also go from here to St Louis LouisForty Forty thoroughbred mares in foal to Star Shoot Plaudit and Mirta Santa will be shipped from Ken ¬ tucky and sold here next month
