MUD RUNNERS AGAIN SCORE RACING AT WOODBINE IS UNDER BRIGHT SKIES BUT OVER HEAVY TRACK Amberite Is Returned Winner of the Stanley StanleyProduce Produce Stakes Miss Edith Takes a Purse Pursefor for the Schorr Stable Toronto Out September 25 The races at Wood ¬ bine this afternoon were run under bright skies but over a deep and heavy track It was a great day for tlie mud runners and horses fancying that sort of going enjoyed a decided advantage The Stanley Produce Stakes one of the fixtures of the fall meetings at AVoodbine was offered as a fea ¬ ture and furnished the best contest of the after ¬ noon Amberite won by a neck from Airey after a long hard stretch drive The conditions of the Stanley Produce Stakes are patterned after the Futurity of tlo Coney Island Jockey Club and it was in keeping with tradition that todays winner Amberite should be by a winner of the Coney Island Jockey Clubs Futurity Martimas Am ¬ berite made all of her own pace and although tiring in the stretch hung on with good courage Airey which liuished second was undoubtedly best and with a better judged ride would have won Small permitted Airey to drop too far out of contention in the early running and then delaved making Ills bid too long At the finish Airey was going much faster than the winner and was only beaten a neck The slake was worth f2275 net to the winner winnerThe The tabled history of the will be remembered as one of the leading riders in America a few years ago He returned from France a couple of weeks ago to attend to the settlement of the estate of his father who died in Brooklyn last summer He will remain here until the close of the meeting and if the opportunity offers will accept a mount in one of the steeplechases run here At present OConnor is employed as rider and
