LAW GOVERNING INDIANA RACING It is understood that in view of the reports eman ¬ ating from Indianapolis concerning the attitude of Governor Mavchall of Indiana towards racing on the new track of the Mineral Springs Jockey Club near Porter the management of the new course over which racing is scheduled to begin on Saturday of next week are preparing to tnke such immediate action as will settle beyond peradyenture the legal status organizationFor of the nuw racing organization For the information of horsemen who may be in ¬ terested in the matter Daily Racing Form herewith reproduces in full what is known as tup Seller law under the provisions of which the proposed meeting is to l e held heldHORSE HORSE RACING Sec 7S177S1S Burns Revised Statutes of Indiana IndianaVol Vol 3 7517 GSGSf Horse Racing Prohibition Pen ¬ alty 1 That it shall be unlawful for any person corporation company or association to cause permit or allow any horse more liily gelding colt or mule to race on any track or course wholly or kpartlv within this state at any time l etweeu the Jlflocntli day of November and the fifteenth day of April in any year foi a purse or i prize in the presence of liftv persons or more or in case wliero advertise ¬ ments or notices f such race or races arc published or given notifying tho nubile that such a race will lake place Any person corporation company or association aiding or abetting in such race by taking part in advertising therefor or by furnishing any animal to participate in such race or by acting as driver therein or by allowing or suffering the use of a track course or other place owned managed or controlled by him or it or by aiding in any way In conducting such race shall be deemed guilty of misdemeanor and fined not less than one hundred dollars nor more than five hundred dollars to whica may be added imprisonment in the county jail for n period not exceeding six months 7518 6959g Racing Limited Penalty 2 It shnll be unlawful for any person corporation com ¬ pany or association to hold or advertise for a rac2 meeting oftener than three times in any year and no race meeting shall be held longer than1 fifteen days It shall be unlawful to hold any race meet ¬ ing oftener than twice in any period of sixty days and It shall also be unlawful to hold any race meet Ing until after the full period of thirty days has elapsed after si meeting has been held Any person violating the provisions of this section or aiding or abetting in the violation thereof shall be fined in tiny sum not less than one hundred dollars nor more than five hundred dollars to which may be added Imprisonment in tho county jail for a period not exceeding sixty days daysPreparations Preparations for the opening of the meeting con ¬ tinue to proceed satisfactorily Richard Dwycr who is to officiate as starter will depart for Louis ville tonight to interest horsemen now racing in Kentucky in making shipments to the new track Mr Dwyer will carry with him an assurance that the new track will be ready for the reception of horses by Sunday next The grandstand has been virtually completed and an extra force of laborers have been put at work finishing up the track proper Applications for stall accommodations have already been received from several owners at present racing in KentuckyW Kentucky W R Norvell who is looking after the interests of the new track among the horsemen racing in Canada has sent word that the pick of the horses and jockeys in that1 section will come to Indiana to engage In the racing at the new course courseThe The Indiana Jockey Club which will exercise governing jurisdiction over the proposed racing is in process of formation This organization it is understood will work In harmony with and recog ¬ nize the rulings of all established governing bodies in the United States and Canada
