ADAH BEDE WINS A RICH RACE London Eng Oct 12 At Kempton Park today the Duke of York Stakes of 10000 for three yearolds and upward was won by Louis Wlnans fouryearold chestnut colt Adam Bede by Adam Grace Gnmberts August Beluionts threeyearold bay colt Monotone by Rock Sand Lady Margaret finishing second and Mr Falries sixyearold bay hope Hainerton by Isinglass Seek and Find third Twelve horses ran and the betting against Adam Bedo was 100 to 9 while It was 100 to 0 against Monotone and 100 to 7 against Hamerton The distance was a mile and a quarter over the Jubilee course courseThis This was the first considerable race won by Mr Winans this year His stable Is a large one and mostly made up of Americanbred horses that have done little in the way of winning races Under the circumstances the success of Adam Bede must have been decidedly gratifying to his owner Adam Bede is a good colt and was bred in this country as also was Monotone Adam Bedo ran in this race last year and was unplaced It was then won by Trepida and was of tho net value of S325 to the winner
