A NEW CANADIAN BREEDER J IS MacColI who as a member of the Canadian Parliament did yeoman service for the cause of thw thoroughbred when the Miller bill was under con sideration at Ottawa is the latest acquisition to th ranks of Canadian breeders of the thoroughbred horse Mr MacColl has several mares on his farm at Cohourg Out and is mating them regularly with the good still lions standing at Mrs L A Livings ¬ tons Canadian establishment which immediately adjoins Mr MacColls farm It Is Mr MacCollrf ambition to breed and develop a Kings Plate winner This year he has a weanling colt by Bowling Brook out of Hordine a mare that he imported from Ken ¬ tucky He also owns the thoroughbred inarcrTha Glob which raced with distinction over Canadian tracks some few years ago This mare has been regularly used on his farm for general purposes anrl Mr MacColl declares that she is one of the hose work animals he has ever possessed which convinces him of the fallacy of the argument sometimes ad ¬ vanced that the thoroughbred is adapted only to racing This man was mated with one of the Liv ¬ ingston stallions last spring and is supposed to be safely Mil foal
