WILL ENFORCE LAW AT THE RACETRACK Governor Marshall of Indiana was in Chicago yesterday and being asked his views of the recent extraordinary occurrences at the racetrack of the Mineral Springs Jockey Club is reported to have said saidI I am not at all familiar with the situation hav ¬ ing been out of the state for some time However 1 will take up the matter upon arrival home I do want to say this 1 have no malice In the matter and have acted and will act in accordance with the opinion stateThe of the attorney general of the state The matter is In the hands of the attorneygen ¬ eral If the attorneygenerals opinion holds thac there must he no racing Saturday or any other day I will use the moans at my disposal to see that th law is eu forced forcedThis This is all fair enough and moderate enough It is to be honed that in the course of his InvcstltRt tion of the matter the governor will among other things consider whether it is good public morals t violate and trample upon one law of his state in order to enforce another That Is precisely what occurred at the Mineral Springs track The racing there was carried on undor the provision of the Seller law and that particular statute has as much force and dignity as that other statute which makes pub ¬ lic professional betting a misdemeanor
