NONCOMMITTAL AS TO NEXT SEASON F J Fons Not Prepared to Announce Hi3 Plans for More Racing1 at Charleston That the second winter meeting of the Charleston Fair and Kacing Association which closed at Pal ¬ metto Park on Saturday was highly satisfactory to the management was the statement made yesterday icneral Manager F J Pons of the association Pons said the management was pleased with the number of visitors who had remained in the city throughout racingAs the fiftylive days of the racing As to whether or not the races would return to Charleston next fwintcr Mr Pons said he did not care to state at the present He said however that ho was sure that if It wast decided to hold tho races next winter hundreds of people would coma who had not come this year because they were not sure of how the races were to be conducted lie said the management had demonstrated that they could cleanlyPractically conduct the meeting cleanly Practically all of the horses and race followers have left the city The business has l een divided between the Atlantic Coast Line and tho Southern one carrying the bulk of the passengersand tho other the bulk of the horses Tho Southern had three racing specials leaving here On Thursday the train contained a Pullman a day coach a baggage coach and live Arms palace horse cars This went to Marllioro Md On Friday and Saturday the South ¬ ern had trains for Norfolk Both contained a num ¬ ber of palace horse care The Toast Line had a special train of ten passenger cars leaving hero Saturday for Norfolk arid there were three special cars on the 159 train Sunday afternoon consigned to Norfolk Charleston News and Courier
