AN INTERESTING SITUATION SITUATIONNew New York May 1C DistrictAttorney Wycong of Nassau County lias sent the following letter to the comptroller at Mincola MincolaMr Mr John Lyon Comptroller Nassau County Dear Sir I believe 1 am authorized to employ extra help in the matter of the detection of crime when necessary under the authority of Gardner vs The Board of Supervisors Heretofore you have dis ¬ agreed with that authority and have declined to approve of bills for such services I am desirous of seeing that the laws of the state are enforced at the coming race meetings to lie held In our county I am also in receipt of a communication from he Governor of the State asking that I cooperate with him in this matter I am not only willing but anxious to see that the law Is enforced but to do so will require the employment of experienced men who are strangers to those likely to violate the law lawAs As a matter for record I would like to know whether you will approve of bills contracted by me for the county for the suppression of crime at Bel ¬ mont Park The probable cost to the county will be 8 a day and expenses for eacli man employed I would appreciate a word from you in tills regard at your earliest convenience Yours very truly Charles N Wysong District Attorney AttorneyMr Mr Lyon says he will not pnss on any question of the kind until it Is presented to him iu the way of a bill for the services spokeuof hut he at the same time let It be known that he did not think he would allow the bills
