BRILLIANT SCENES AT ROYAL ASCOT Tuesdays opening of the Ascot meeting in Eng ¬ land was marked by scenes of great brilliance ac ¬ cording to cable advices King George with Queen Mary and tlie entire court drove in state from Wind ¬ sor Castle In open carriages drawn by six horses with postillions in tlie historic Ascot livery of blue and gold with jockey caps over their powdered wigs and scarletcoated grooms their majesties and their entourage made the sixmile journey through Wind ¬ sor Great Park ParkThe The royal enclosure was packed by elaborately gowned women and sprucely attired cavaliers In view of last years scandal involving the sale of tickets to aspiring social climbers and the possi ¬ bility of suffragette raids on the racing the entire course was under rigid police surveillance and en ¬ trance to the enclosure was rigorously censored Nothing censoredNothing so neglige as a straw hat may be worn at Ascot silk hats and morning coats being nec ¬ essary Every person admitted to the enclosure had to pass the scrutiny of two or three of the Lord Chamberlains ollicials as well as numerous Scotland Yard detectives detectivesWednesday Wednesday was an offday when ordinary folk ventured on the track in lounge suits and straw hats Yesterday was another state day witli a royal procession from Windsor Today there will be no royal features The king and queen have been in attendance each day
