HILLCREST OPENING IS AUSPICIOUS. Toronto, Out., September 30. The autumn meeting Of the Toronto Driving Club had an auspicious ; opening at Hilicrest Park this afternoon when o.OOO persons witnessed the running of nine races, made up of large and evenly-balanced fields. Four favorites and four second choices were successful. The weather and track conditions were favorable. Four "good things." Odd Cross, Janus. Pendant and Golden Treasure, won their respective races easily after being heavily supported. After he had given an exhibition of deliberate rough riding on Odd Cross in the opening race. Jockey Knight lost his badge. He was escort til from the grounds and will be denied tlie privileges of the track during the remainder of the meeting. .Tockevs Wills and Alley lwth escaped serious Injury when their mounts were caught in a jam and went down on the first turn iu the fifth race. Bursar ran unplaced in tlie colors of his new owner, C. A. Fair, in the second race.
