WOODROW left the barrier with a rush and sprinted into an easy lead in tlie first eighth, but had to be hard ridden through the last eighth to hold his lead. RECESSION is a slow beginner and was outpaced in the early running and forced to work her way up on the outside, but finished fast and would have won in a few more strides. WATER LAD was a forward contender all the way. but was tiring at tlie end. 1-OOL OFORTUNE ran well and finished close up. SANDBAR was green at the barrier and away badly. PEACOCK ran fairly well. DARTWORTH took the lead quickly and, drawing away into a long lead on the far turn, was only cantering through the last eighth. MARY ANN K. begau slowly and was badly outrun early, but closed a big gap and finished, fast. COMPLIMENT was a forward contender all the way but finished tiring. COLONEL ASHMEADE tired badly in the last quarter after being in closest pursuit to the stretch and did not rim to his true form- NAPIER ran fairly well. Scratched llS923Lace. 100; 11987 O. IT. BRAVE ClXARDER finished with a rush and outgamed GALLOP in the final drive. The latter was off forwardly and ran in closest pursuit for three-eighths, then began to tire. GALAXY was in close quarters all the way. ORTYX showed speed, but tired. SALOX ran a bad race. Tlie winner, entered for ,100, was bid up to ,505 and bought in. SPRING BOARD saved ground all the way, but ran a dull race and can do much better. MONCREIF ran well to the homestretch. SPELLBOUND went around the others with a rush on the first turn nnd drew away on the back-stretch, then hung on resolutely when challenged in the homestretch. ELLA GRANE saved much ground while rounding the far turn, where she slipped through on the inside, then came to the outside of the winner after entering the homestretch and almost got up to win. ARDELON ran a good race and was next to the rail in close quarters all of the last eighth. BONN HI ELOISE was cut off on tlie first turn and was pulled up. NOSI5EDNA reared up just as the barrier was sprung, then closed a gap and tired. Scratched 12052 Fairy Godmother, 95; 11092 Chemulpo, 105; 11987 Joe Gaitens, 102; 12110 Nimbus 102. AFTERGLOW finished fast and almost got up to win. DEFY ran fairly well under a weak ride. Tlie winner, entered for 00, was bid up to and sold to tlie Quincy Stable.
