MORE WHITNEY HORSES COMING HOME. H. P. Whitney brought Whisk Broom II., Night-Stick, Prince Eugene and some lesser lights home from England with beneficial results to our racing of this year, as well as to the fortunes of his own domestic stable. He now has a second contingent en route for home, which possibly may have arrived bv this time. In this band are his Middle Park Plate winner, Borrow, his three-year-old colt. Meeting House, which ran third in this years Two Thousand Guineas, the extremely fast Ally, Pana-sine, aud another speedy Peter Pan filly called Fly by Night. These cannot fail to add greatly to the attractiveness of our eastern racing next vear. The good colt Harmonlcou was retained in "England in the expectation that up to a mile he will prove one of the brightest stars of racing in England next year. Mr. Whitneys course in returning such good horses to help American racing Is to be sincerely commended. Although not a stayer. Borrow has been consistely one of the fastest horses in England and that he retains his speed unimpaired, was practically demonstrated at Newmarket October 10. when he defeated such flyers as White Star and Hornets Beauty in the Challenge Stakes at three-quarters of a mile. As a two-year-old in 1910. lie won seven races, the Crabbet Plate, at. Gatwick. Windsor Castle Stakes at Ascot, Great Kingston Two-Year-Old Plate at Sandowu Park, Ilarringtpn Plate at Derbv and the Hopeful Stakes, Clearwell Stakes and the Middle Park Plate at Newmarket, their combined net value being 0,400. As a three-year-old he was sick most of the time and, racing but little, did not win. Last year he won the Windsor Castle Handicap at Kcmpton Park and AVokingham Stakes at Ascot and this year has accounted for the Avr Gold Cup at Ayr and the Challenge Stakes at Newmarket, besides being frequently placed. It is to be remembered that in nearly all of his races he has been in competition with the fastest horses in England. He is a five-year-old . gelding by HamburgForget, and is quite capable of giving us some new sprinting records next year if he then retains his English form. Meeting House is a much. better racer than such as .Nightstick and Prince Eilgeue, and as a four-year-old should prove quite a star in the racing of 1914. As a two-year-old last year he won the Astley Stakes at Lewes and ran to a place in three of his four starts. This year In his first racs as a 12 to 1 chance in the betting he defeated San-tair and seven other fast ones in the Craw-furd Plate at the Newmarket Craven meeting and followed this by running third to Lou-vois and Craganour in the Two Thousand Guineas, having Sanquhar. Fairy King. Shogun, Roseworthy. Radiant, Day Comet, Halos, Nassau, Bachelors Wedding. Kingsborough, Rauisgate and Mouthpiece iKhind him. He was unplaced to Hornets Beauty. Master Hopson aud Prester Jack in the Stewards Handicap at Kempton Park, getting away badly. Then he won the rich Fifty-first New Biennial Stakes at Ascot and in England It Is held that a horse which can win at Ascot is necessarily above the average as a race horse. Then he ran unplaced in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood. His next race and his last in England was for the Kennett Plate at Newmarket October 15. This he was expected to win, but he only ran third to another American colt in Forward and the English colt San Stefano. His meeting next year with such of our then four-year-olds as Ten Point. Rock View and Cock o the Walk will be fraught with interest and will afford something In the way of a line of comparison between our best colts and one able to race worthily In the best company in England. He is a chestnut colt by Voter Noonday. Panaslne is a brown three-year-ohl filly by Peter Pan Ladaslno. As a two-year-old last year she won the Gosforth Park Biennial Stakes at Newcastle and was placed In three more of her seven races. This year she won the Flying Handicap at the Newmarket Craven meeting and the Flying Handicap at the Newmarket Second Spring meeting, both events bearing the same name and both at five-eighths "f a mile. She ran second in five other races and should have won nearly all of them, but on the whole she has been quite unlucky. Her speed is of the highest order and she is a great weight carrier. Her next to her last race was at Leicester September 23 in the Hradford High Weight Handicap, in which she carried 130 pounds and was beaten a head by a fast filly named Abra carrying 93 pounds. Twelve sprinters of note finished behind the pair. Fly by-Night is a three-year-old chestnut filly by Peter Pau Dazzling. She has been unfortunate this year and has not won. but has been placed in several of her races. Last year she won the Lowton Maiden Plate at Haydock Park and the Holiday Stakes at Sandowu Park. In the latter race Aboyeur. winner of the Epsom Derby of this year, ran second. Both of these fillies are good ones and sure to make their mark in eastern racing next year. Besides the four described,- three more are coining over, one of which Is the disappointing colt Cabaret.
