The latter ran v well and finished gamely. GALAXY began slowly and was unable to Improve her position in the last quarter. BILLY STUART was pulled up at the start and closed a big gap. MORDECAI rail fairly well. BULGAR set the early pace, but quit badly and can do better. ANCON was rushed to the front at the start and, setting a fast pace, won all the way, but was firing through the last quarter and barely lasted long enough. CAPTAIN ELLIOTT saved ground all the way and, in a game finish, almost got up. FRED LEVY ran well, .but tired nnd just lasted long enough to outstay VOTES. The latter closed a gap and finished with a rush on the outside and would have won in a few more strides. ARRAN closed a big gap. WARBLER was away badly. GOLD CAP finished with a belated rush and was catching tho "winner with every stride. BESOM showed a great turn of speed for live-eighths, but tired in the final drive. BIG DIPPER left the barrier with a great burst of speed and, drawing away into a long lead in the first quarter, easily hold the race safe to the end. MYCENAE was messed about for the entire way and was taken wide on the first turn, where he lost ground, but made a fast and game finish. VENETA STROME ran forwardly, but tired. COLONEL ASHMEADE raced in closest pursuit behind the leader to the stretch turn, where he moved up quickly and, easily passing REY, was easing up at the end. TACTICS came through on the inside with a rusli after entering the homestretch, but tired in the last sixteenth. REY set the pace to the stretch, but was made too much use of and quit when challenged. THE RUMP raced well to the stretch and tired as if short. CHAS. F. GRAINGER and MY FELLOW ran bad races.
