TWO PURSES FOR F. J. PONS. Grazclle and Armor, Horses That Score for Florida Turfman at Palmetto Park. Charleston. S. C, March IN. -Small fields of evenly classed horses made up todays racing card at Ialnietto lark. Another large attendance witnessed some excellent racing. Governor Cole L. ltlcase was again among the visitors. There were no outstanding features, all the races being under selling conditions. The closing dash was probably best from a racing standpoint, it being the only one at more than a mile and having among its starters some fair platers. It resulted in a thrilling linisli between Kinmundy, Gerrard and Spellbound. The last-named was best, but suffered much from interference on the turns duriug the earlier stages and again when he was forced to lose much ground hy going wide in entering the stretch. the opening dash brought with it a bad spill, that momentarily threatened to result seriously for jockey -Nathan, who went down with Free Trade just licforc rounding into the stretch. Free Trade was well up at this point and showing rankuess. Isathan attempted to go through along the inner rail, but one of the starters bore over, tripping him and causing his mount to take a somersault. The lniy was lucky lo escape with nothing more serious than au injury to his leg. Free Trade was an intended "goyil thing" and seemingly would have won but for falling. Francis J. Pons scored a double during the after-ueo.i. Grazelle carried his colors to victory in the opener and the change in riders from Kandolph to Obert aided Armor to win the lifth. The juvenile race at a half mile went to Ger-theluia after a stretch drive with Finalee. Booth spreadeagled his opposition in the third race and Slellala piovetl best in the fourth. Jockey F. .Murphy, who is fast developing into a capable rider, came into the limelight by piloting the lirst three winners. A. G. Blakeley will make his riding engagements and after the close of this meeting will take him to Havre de Grace. Considerable rough riding developed today, for which jockeys Knight, Wollc and Waldron were responsible. The stewards did not take any action. A. B. Davidson today secured at private terms he two-year-old lilly .May Ipps from V. H. Fiey. K. J. Austin will ship Indolence and Commouada to Norfolk at the close of racing here. F. Harlan today purchased Sonny Boy from W. O. Jnplin. Jockey Neander departed this afternoon for V.el-mont Park, where he goes to report to T. J. Hea-ley. to whom he is under contract.
