AN OLD ESTABLISHED FIXTURE TO BE RUN THIS AFTERNOON + _____ — + The Clark Handicap, whose history is coincident ilh thai of the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks, ether important events of spring racing at Churchill Downs, will be run this afternoon at that course im-the fortieth time. The lie-id which has been named to # in the race is in keeping with its best traditions and doubtless will produce ■ contest, that will compare favorably with those that have taken place in tin-past. Originally the Clark Handicap was ■ stake race for three-year-olda and. known as the Clark Stakes, uas run as a sequel to the Kentucky Handicap, its distance was two miles until 1881, when it was re rtuced to a mile anil a quarter.
