Schorr wound np his Kentucky campaign this afternoon in brilliant fashion when Leochares and Star Shooter liA.k the carded features at Douglas Park from sterling opposition. Leochares contribution to the stables account came in the Memorial Handicap, with |2,320 net to the winner. Meridian, though carrying 127 pounds, was regarded as the best in the race and he tattered his backers until half of Hi- journey had been traversed. At this point Leoehiires, under Xeylons urging, shot through small opening, ami continuing with a seusa-lion.il rush, hiul passed iuto a four-lengths lead li -fore Keogh on Meridian realized he had been displaced from the lead. In the liual drive Leochares held his own and won well in band. Meridian outstayed C.-isiiiiiiiiii for second place. Hawthorn Wiis expected to be formidable by his connections, but he beeiune involved in trouble early. By tin ishiug fourth he saved his entrance and starting le. s.
