TAKES GREAT PRIDE IN LUKE McLUKE. A proud man indeed was John W. Schorr, after his colt. Luke McLuke had shown himself so decidedly superior to his two opponents In the Belmont Stakes The silver tankard, value 50, which is added by August Belmont to the ,500 added money value o! the slake, was presented to Mr. Schorr by Mr. Belmont. "1 bought Luke as a yearling from Mr. Keeae, said Mr Schorr. "He was one of the Castle-ton Stud consignment and is by Ultimas Midge. Ultl-mus is a sire that had not been extensively used by Major Balngerflekl, but is a rareij bred horse by Commando -Running Stream, sin- an imported mare by Isonomy Dancing Water. Lake was worked for this race a mile in 1:44. bis only work since he ran in the Dorval Derby, lib race in the Belmont was a good one. but no better than I expected of him. He ran a magaiacent race in the Kentucky Handicap at Doagtaa Park. Louisville-ran the mile in 1:36%, the mile and an eighth in 1:4816 and the mile and a quarter in 2:62%. Thats . going some. 1 intend to wait and hear how my other horse.
