PETLICO TRACK IN FINE SHAPE. Baltimore, Md., October 28. The Pimlico track is now in perfect condition for the fall meeting beginning next Monday and continuing until November 12, During the past summer many cartloads of sand were dumped on it. anil the harrows have been at work, with the result that Superintendent Brennan thinks it fast enough for miles iu 1 :3S or better. It is recalled that when August Belmonts great colt, Watervale. won a sensational race at Pimlico a couple of seasons back he was timed by several reliable watches in 1:30 for the mile, some even recording a fraction less than this. The ditficnltv experienced in breaking records over this course is that the meetings are held so early in the spring that the horses nre not at their best, and in the late fall the long campaigns are beginning to tell on the racers, and the weather is apt to be too cool and wet. But as far as the track itself is concerned, few letter or safer ones can be found in the country. The horses that S. C. Hildreth will bring to Pimlico for August Belmont are ten in number, consisting of Rock View, Stromboli. FHttergold, De-fendiim. Thornhill. Top Hat, Mission, Flitaway. Crossbun and Fenrock. Of these, Stromboli. FHttergold and Thornhill are nominated for the rich Bowie stakes, and it is believed that if the track suits him that Stromboli. will Make a lot of beating." Mission and Top Hat have been schooled over the jumps. They started their jumping careers at Pimlico last spring, and it is hoped they will wind up the season there "With success.
