JOCKEY CLUB JUAREZ PRESIDENT DEAD. Announcement Overshadows Racing at Mexican Course and Sport Will Be Suspended for Funeral. EI Paso. Tex., December 10. The racing at Juarez today was overshadowed by news of thj death of the president of the Jockey Club Juarez, John G. Follansbee, in the east. Word of Mr. Fo.-lansbees death was received this morning by Manager Matt J. Winn. Mr. Follansbee was president of the Jockey Club Juarez for four vears and held this office at the time of his death. Out of respect to his memory racing at Juarez will be suspended on the day of the funeral, which probably will take place on Friday. Mr. Follansbee was active In organizing the Jockey Club Juarez and was elected to the presidency of the club when Alberto Terrazas resigned. Owing to ill health he had not visited the track In nearly two years. Manager Winn had the Hags displayed at half mast at the track today. The opening dash went to the favorite. Rose Ring, from the stable of the veteran Green B. Morris. Kid Nelson was the runner up and Dusky Dave came from behind to be third. Durin, a long shot, beat Originator, at even longer odds, for first money in the second. Polls, the odds-ou favorite, was unplaced, as was Leopold, the second choice. Yallaha scored as a heavily backed favorite in thu third after setting all the pace. Bens Brother, a receding second choice, failed to show any of thu speed he had in previous races here and finished absolutely last. The fourth race was attended by-a-surprising result when Balgee and Osaple finished first and second. Mater, well backed as the seconil choice, was third and Charmeuse,;the,.,avptittTTW:asTn;xt. . Tho latters race was lii distinct -contrast to- her- TeceUt successful efforts. . . Marty iou, well haqked1 at liberal odds, was never headed in the fifth, but her winning margin was only a neck over Annual Interest. Big Lumax was the favorite and finished third. The closing dash went to the credit of II. B. Gorins Wavering, which was the second winner saddled during the afternoon by Green B. Morris. Wavering led throughout. Presiding Steward Price was confined to his room today suffering from an attack of neuralgia. Jockey Metcalf was suspended for five days for rough riding on Yallaha.
