ONE GERMAN TURF NEWSPAPER ALIVE. The advent of war between the clashing nations of Europe quickly brought about the abandonment of continental racing and the suspension of publications dependent on the sport for support. But "it seems the leading German turf newspaper, Deutscher Sport, of Berlin, has remained in publication, as witness the following from London Sportsman of a recent date: "With reference to a recent note in this column concerning Items of interest which appeared lu Deutscher Sport,4 Herr George Killers, the editor of our contemporary, writes m that, unlike "Le Sport Beige," and the French sporting papers, his paper never ceased to appear, but that since October 1 it Is only published twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays. He adds: We are the only sporting paper in German presumably which lias regularly published, from August 1. Knglisli raciug results, and a lot of our sportsmen applauded this snorting manner of keeping up the old custom: While giving Herr Fillers credit for keeping Deutscher Sport going. I should like to point out for his benefit that had Berlin been in a similar plight to Brussels, and. In the early stages ot"the war, Paris, he might not now be In a position to plume himself at the expense of Le Snort Beige, and the French Sporting papers. The Le Sport Beige, by the way, is now temporarily published in London, but the whirligig of war-time brings about curious changes, and even Berlin. In tin- fullness of time, may find Itself in the position of Brussels, or Paris, in the earlv days of the war. Slioulilli:tt dread eveiitualitv arise. Deutscher Sport. 110 doVilij, will still he published as usual if nof hi" BcrHh", possibly in Constantinople."-
